General Dynamics UK Selects Raima for the Tactical Information Exchange Capability (TIEC) Programme

SEATTLE, WA – March, 12th 2013 – Raima, a premium provider of high performance database technology, today announced that its RDM Embedded Database has been selected by General Dynamics UK as the database software for the Tactical Information Exchange Capability (TIEC) Programme and the Future Lynx Tactical Data Link Independent Sub-system (TDLIS).

General Dynamics UK was selected in 2004 to work in partnership with BAE Systems to provide Royal Air Force Tornado GR4 with battlespace situational awareness. The TIEC Programme was developed by a team led by Mission Systems, comprising Rockwell Collins and Innovative Concepts. It uses data exchanged via the onboard Link 16 terminal and/or the Improved Data Modem to generate and display tactical information on the platform’s head-down displays. The TIEC Programme integrates a number of key technologies including digital mapping, the Raima RDM Embedded Database, track management, advanced software architecture (ASAAC) which keeps the software application independent of the processor hardware and data recording, as well as the specific datalink parsers.

The TIEC Programme provided the capability to network enable Royal Air Force Tornado GR4, by integrating Link 16 and Improved Data Modem (IDM) on the aircraft. This key capability integrated Link 16 and IDM messages with the aircraft systems to provide the aircrew with enhanced situational awareness enabling prosecution of Time Critical and Time Sensitive Targets supporting dynamic re-tasking and co-operation with Allied Forces.

Nigel Rozier, EMEA Sales Manager, said “Raima is field-proven in the most demanding military and avionics applications and we are very pleased to be included in the TIEC Programme.”

The successful deployment of the TIEC Programme also led to the use of the Raima RDM Embedded Database on the Future Lynx Tactical Data Link Independent Sub-system (TDLIS) which is a software application operating within the open systems architecture of the AW159 Lynx Wildcat Security Enhanced Tactical Processor (SE-TP). The application handles tactical information sourced from Link 11, Link 16 or Link 22, providing all the necessary receipt and transmission transaction processing including message storage and track correlation.
